Writing about surrealist art (and pigments).
I recently decided to write more about my artwork, process and style. To do this, I first tried to put myself in the position of an art collector.
Because people search with words, even when they are searching for images. Don’t they?
What sort of art would I buy? Or more importantly, who would I buy it from? Because it’s one thing to buy art that you like (and I do). It’s another to buy art as an investment.
So I think art collectors do expect some level of background information before they decide to invest in an artist. After all, that’s certainly what I’d expect. I’d want to see actual words associated with those pictures. Text.
I want people people to be able to recognise certain colours in my paintings just by looking at them.
I think writing about my art will help me to get more website traffic, more exposure, because more people will be able to encounter this website by simply googling around for other similarly related art search terms.
I pretty much use my watercolours straight from the pan without mixing them. The reason is that I like my colours to be consistent.
So today I decided that I’m going to write separately about each and every single colour that I use. It might take me some time (like a year) but I think it will be worth the effort.\
P.S: Apologies about the blurry artwork in progress photo. I’ll try to do better next time. What can I say? At the time it was this or nothing. Sometimes perfection is a curse…
Stay tuned!
