The lungs
Another organ that I like to paint are a pair of lungs. I tend to paint these in a triangular shape. But lately I have been doing them into a triangulaoid with slightly squared off at the top as I think that is a more interesting shape.
I usually paint the center of the lungs cobalt violet (PV49). Lately I’ve bought a special erbium pink pigment, a lanthanide rare earth compound, which is a bit too pale on its own, and have thus been doing the lungs a mixture of erbium oxide pink and the aforementioned cobalt violet (which looks more pink to me than violet anyway).
The perimeter of the lungs I usually paint either quinacridone violet, quinacridone purple or else quinacridone magenta.
Lately I’ve been recessing the lungs a bit back into the connecty bits. Just because I think it looks more special that way.
