Old Holland cold grey
One of only two Old Holland colours I’m using. I needed a cold grey for my larger works of art. I found this and it works. It’s exactly what it says it is. It’s a cold grey.
Unfortunately it’s not a single pigment cold grey, but I’m not so sure a single pigment cold grey exists in the universe. If you find one, please let me know and I’ll be sure to try it.
Greys are important to give the picture ‘balance’. I have a number of greys but most of them are warm, for example gray titanium, hematite grey and even slate grey. So having several different greys allows me to paint adjoining sections different shades of grey. It looks better this way.
